The two types of Waterproofing systems commonly used in older existing structures are:

Waterproof barriers or “Type A Tanked Protection” waterproofing systems (as defined in BS8102) are commonly multi coat renders, cement based coatings, bituminous paints or epoxy coatings. This form of waterproofing provides an unbroken barrier to water. These systems are applied to clean walls and floors and are usually protected and held in place by floor screeds, renders, plasters or other “loading coats”.
Cavity drainage systems or “Type C Cavity Drained Protection” (as defined in BS8102) waterproofing usually utilise pre-formed high density drainage membranes, channels and sumps. These are designed so as to direct any water entering the structure back out in a controlled and managed way.

Working to British Standard BS8102:2009, our qualified surveyors will recommend the treatment system which best suits your property. Waterproofing in existing underground structures is usually undertaken by applying waterproof membranes to the inside walls and floors or by using drained cavity technology in the form of a cavity drain membrane system which directs water entering the basement into channels. Water will then be pumped away or diverted to an existing drain so that it can be removed safely from the building.

We are a John Newton and Wykamol Waterproofing Systems approved contractor and our experienced surveyors hold the Certificated Surveyor in Structural Waterproofing (CSSW) qualification.

Following our survey we provide a written report and specification outlining the surveyor’s recommendations in line with your requirements with an estimate for works.

We are a specialist remedial treatment company, as such our specifications for preparation and finishing work is designed to be undertaken by a competent builder under separate contract. Our specifications are site specific and to the needs requested by our clients.
