Dry rot and timber treatments in Norfolk

Does your building have fungi or woodworm? Beadle Property Care Ltd are on hand to help.

Our trained surveyors can undertake a survey and identify the appropriate treatment.

Dry rot

Dry rot (Serpula lacryman) is often regarded as a nightmare when the fungi invades a building. However, it is only a problem if the cause is not known.

Our experienced and qualified surveyors, endeavour to identify the cause of the outbreak, the remedy and any associated building work required, all at the survey stage.  This enables all trades to give more accurate estimates, before any work is undertaken. Exposure work is rarely required at this stage.

The fungi, contrary to its name, requires additional moisture normally above 20%. The cause in the UK is normally associated with water ingress, often caused by postponed maintenance or faulty plumbing.

Timber treatments

Woodworm or beetles can be a problem. The first step is identifying the types of species and the appropriate treatment, if applicable.

The common furniture beetle (Anobium punctatum) is the most common woodworm requiring treatment. Other species, such as death watch beetle (Xestobium rufovillosum), require a specialised treatment, where as the wood boring weevil (Euophryum confine) would require no chemical treatment.

Typically spray treatments are undertaken, but paste, and in-situ pressure injection are also carried out. All products used have HSE certificates and have English Nature approvals. When floor boards need to be lifted, we take great care to limit any damage, leaving floors which are often exposed in good order.

Fibre glass, where present, can be moved and reinstated by our operatives if so required.

We also offer damp proofing and basement waterproofing, phone for further details.
